November 26, 2011 - A New Website, New Products and a Book!
The PlaneGrafx website has been completely overhauled with simplified navigation, a larger format, up-to-date coding and improved SEO. The artwork and products can be easily browsed with a new slideshow feature, too.
I have decided to expand what I'm offering on this site, and the first products are a line of WWII fighter coffee mugs that I have designed (see PG Products in the menu above). The inspiration for the graphic began with the PlaneGrafx logo, and I have created art deco style art of nine other fighters aside from the Corsair. Each mug holds a generous 15 oz, and would make a great holiday gift for the aviation enthusiast! There is some lead time involved with ordering, so please allow 10-14 days for delivery. The price for a mug is $11.95 plus shipping.
Other aviation-related products are being planned, as well. It is my hope that these products will provide some cashflow, so I can refocus my efforts on completing several profiles that are currently in progress. PlaneGrafx has always been a part-time endeavor, and earning a living has often interfered with my ability to complete artwork that I have started. It's always been my dream to turn PlaneGrafx into a full-time occupation, and offering additional products along with my art seems like a step in the right direction.
I recently completed three new Corsair profiles for publication in a book being written by author and WWII historian, Bruce Gamble. It will be a pictorial history of VMF-214, Black Sheep Squadron, and will be released in the fall of 2012. This is the first time that my work will be published, and I'm very excited about it! Once the book is out, the profiles I did for it will be offered on this website as matted, large format prints, suitable for framing.
I've resumed work on my F-4J Phantom II profile, and have been making some progress. I'm currently adding shadows and highlights, which really brings the art to life. After I have completed the Blue Angels version, I will be creating additional U.S. Marine and Navy liveries.
I hope everyone has a great holiday season!
